Dans l’Égypte du Nouvel Empire, les scènes de jeu de senet sont nombreuses, provenant en particulier des tombes de Deir el‑Médina, dans la région thébaine. Ces scènes illustrent souvent la formule 17 du Livre des Morts, et révèlent un moment clé dans le parcours eschatologique du mort. Le défunt est montré la plupart du temps jouant seul, mais il arrive que son épouse joue face à lui, voire à sa place. We examined cynicism as a mediator of the influence of managers’ mission-congruent communication and behavior about ethical standards (a form of supervisory behavioral integrity) on employee attitudes and intended behavior. Results indicated that cynicism partially mediates the relationship between supervisory behavioral integrity and organizational commitment, but not the relationship between supervisory behavioral integrity and intent to comply with organizational expectations for employee conduct.

As a model for processing information about people's perceptions to understand the complex world and society in which they live, the cultural schema serves as a key concept in Cultural Linguistics when directing to the perception and processing of information about people, and social groups, and events. Cultural schema theory is valuable in deciphering culturally structured concepts, covering the entire range of human experience expressed in many fields such as education, belief, religion, etc. Through the practice of sacred rituals, each (...) religious believer can form his system of ideas about entities in his or her belief world. Those experiences and experiences are conceptualized through the language picture. In the process of cultural development and integration, the cultural awareness of the Catholic community also reflects certain changes in Catholicism in the West in harmony with the customs and beliefs of Eastern countries. like Vietnam, expressed through the practice of funeral rites and traditional marriage of the Vietnamese. In this article, by using quantitative and qualitative methods, we have conducted a character analysis of the above cultural schemas based on the corpus of 120 discourses drawn during the implementation perform funeral and marriage rites for Vietnamese Catholics. Research results show that cultural schemas (event diagrams, role schemas, image schemas, propositional schemas, and emotional schemas) reflect the cultural knowledge (beliefs, standards, principles, and expectations) of each Vietnamese Catholic about DEATH and MARRIAGE as a journey or a new transformation in one's life... That is the basis for them to transmit achieve and explain the basic values of these two concepts, helping us to understand more deeply the mind of the Vietnamese Catholic community in Vietnam when performing two important rituals in human life in reality. The works of Mary Wollstonecraft (1759-1797) ranged from the early _Thoughts on the Education of Daughters_ to _The Female Reader_, a selection of texts for girls, and included two novels. But her reputation is founded on _A Vindication of the Rights of Woman_ of 1792. This treatise is the first great document of feminism—and is now accepted as a core text in western tradition. It is not widely known that the germ of Wollstonecraft’s great work came out of an earlier (...) and much shorter vindication—A Vindication of the Rights of Men (1790), written in the context of the issues raised by the French Revolution. This chapter first distinguishes between originality and creativity. True originality is rare, whether in art, science, or LEGO, because to be truly original means to have done something that no one has ever done before, and that no one could have anticipated. Most LEGO creations will not meet that condition, for with the exception of serious hobbyists who undertake massive builds, most players who make original creations are making creations that are commonplace. Painting or remolding or placing stickers on the (...) bricks counts against the spirit of LEGO creation. The chapter then discusses The LEGO Movie embodies the paradox that presents three conflicting models of creative LEGO play, illustrated by the Master Builders, Finn's father, and Emmet. The movie's creators were deliberately playing around with conflicting popular conceptions of creativity: creativity as madness, creativity as thinking outside the box, and creativity as vision. Organizations interested in employee ethics compliance face the problem of conflict between employee and organizational ethical standards. Socializing new employees is one way of assuring compliance. Important for longer term employees as well as new ones, however, is making those standards visible and then operable in the daily life of an organization. This study, conducted in one large organization, found that, depending on organizational level, awareness of an organization's ethical standards is predicted by managerial adherence to and organizational compliance with (...) those standards and/or discussions with peers. Regardless of level, organizational commitment was predicted most strongly by managerial adherence to organizational standards. These findings have theoretical implications for the fields of business ethics, organizational identity and organizational socialization and practical implications for the implementation of ethics policies. Synthetic judgment, basis for cognition and human action, depends on efficacy of non-empirical insights: the transcendental standpoint, “regulative” ideas, consciousness of “ought” and the reality of freedom, universality of natural mechanism, the principle of “fortuitous” purposiveness. The activity of reflective judgment (...) in the encounter with the beautiful, sublime, living, and two paradigmatic types of explanation, inspired by Spinoza′s distinction of extensio and cogitatio, permit Kant to bridge the gap between freedom and necessity, theoretical knowledge and morality. Abstract:This study explores a phenomenon that has been shown to adversely affect managers’ decisions—competitive irrationality. Managers are irrationally competitive in their decisions when they focus on damaging the profits of competitors, rather than improving their own profit performance. Studies by Armstrong and Collopy (1996) and Griffith and Rust (1997) suggest that the phenomenon is common but not universal. We examine the question of why some individuals exhibit competitive irrationality when making decisions, while others do not by focusing on four aspects (...) of moral philosophy—deontological orientation, cognitive moral development, idealism, and relativism. Results suggest that individuals high in deontological orientation, high in cognitive moral development, high in idealism, and low in relativism will be less competitively irrational than those who are not. Après une présentation générale de la palmomantique, notamment des traités du Pseudo-Mélampous, cet article analyse plus en détail les sources antiques relatives à l’interprétation divinatoire de l’éternuement, l’un des principaux mouvements involontaires du corps, traditionnellement considéré comme un signe envoyé (...) par les dieux et qu’il convenait de savoir reconnaître et déchiffrer.Contemporary research has focused on the semiology of the human body in ancient medicine and physiognomics. However, a large number of Greco-Roman sources evidence the popularity of body divination, especially through observing bodily signs and movements, in Antiquity. This paper presents the system of palmonancy especially as developed in the treatises of Pseudo-Melampous, and analyses in depth ancient sources relating to the divinatory interpretation of sneezing, one of the commonest involuntary body movements, traditionally regarded as a sign sent by gods, and hence useful to identify and interpret. L’emmaillotement du nouveau-né et du nourrisson est souvent présenté par les auteurs modernes comme une coutume inscrite dans la longue durée, sans modification notable dans l’espace et le temps. D’une société et d’une époque à l’autre, elle se décline cependant avec des variantes qui peuvent être associées à des pratiques votives en Grèce ancienne. Les offrandes de vêtements dans les sanctuaires grecs sont bien documentées par les sources littéraires et épigraphiques. Dans les inventaires conservés, le nourrisson ne semble être présent (...) qu’au travers des offrandes de vêtements maternels en remerciement pour un heureux accouchement. Différents indices permettent de suggérer que des langes furent aussi offerts à Artémis en sa qualité de kourotrophe lors d’un moment de transition associé à un changement de vêtement, peut-être en relation avec la pousse des dents. This article interprets Pam Gems’s play Queen Christina as an avant la lettrethesis on the performance of gender, identifying correspondences between the protagonist’s trajectory and the successive feminist interventions. Focusing on the 17th-century Swedish queen’s transformation from a masculine-identified bastion of patriarchy into an untamed rebel against political and sexual conservatism, Gems, in fact, indirectly shares her views on aspects of western feminist thought. This article’s analysis demonstrates that following Christina’s initial appropriation and subsequent contestation of patriarchal values, she engages (...) with radical feminism before briefly identifying herself as a socialist feminist. In the wake of her unfulfilled attempt at maternity, she moves on to embrace cultural feminism; though, eventually, she decides not to privilege any specific political position and thus echoes Gems’s own ambivalence and reservation towards explicit ideological commitment. Ce travail a pour objet d’examiner comment sont articulés deux thèmes centraux de l’oeuvre philosophique de Poincaré : la question de la nature mathématique de la physique et la critique des questionnements « métaphysiques » relatifs aux théories scientifiques. En s’appuyant sur la dimension linguistique du traitement de ces thèmes par Poincaré et en analysant certains aspects de ses réflexions sur le continu et la mesure des grandeurs physiques, notre examen sera poursuivi en suivant le fil conducteur de la distinction (...) entre les notions d’identité numérique et d’égalité, dont nous tâcherons de montrer qu’elle sous-tend tout à la fois la caractérisation par Poincaré de la métaphysique et ses considérations sur la géométrie et le continu.The purpose of this study is to examine the link between two main topics of Poincaré’s philosophical work : the question of the mathematical nature of physics and the criticism of “metaphysical” questions about physical theories. By focusing on the linguistic dimension of Poincaré’s treatment of these subjects and by analysing some aspects of his reflections about continuum and physical measurement, our inquiry will be pursued following the vital lead of the distinction between numerical identity and equality, which appears to underlie both Poincaré’s characterisation of metaphysics and his reflections about geometry and the continuum. Un joueur de jeux vidéo sur deux est une joueuse. À l’écran cependant, la présence des femmes et leur représentation ne vont pas de soi. L’entretien analyse le dernier opus d’Assassin’s Creed, une saga dont chaque titre se déroule dans un contexte historique précis. Le premier jeu de la série (2007) imposait d’incarner un avatar masculin ; le huitième permettait d’incarner un personnage féminin, mais doté de caractéristiques autres que son homologue masculin ; le quatorzième proposait d’incarner un ou une (...) hoplite, tous deux égaux dans le combat. Mais sur le plan du genre, le dernier titre en date, Valhalla (2020), va plus loin. Le joueur, en ouverture, incarne Eivor, un enfant dont le sexe est indéterminé. À l’âge adulte, il doit choisir : jouer Eivor au féminin, au masculin, ou laisser le système décider. Le genre ainsi n’est pas subi mais choisi, et est modifiable en cours de partie. S’agit-il vraiment d’une révolution? Les frontières du genre ne sont-elles pas simplement repoussées? Et comment, si c’est le cas, pourrait-on les dépasser enfin? (shrink)
